Our client is a high profile organisation with its head office based in Christchurch. With a well-established history in their industry, they have invested significant resources in their operations, and a strategy to keep innovating, which sees them well positioned to capitalise on future growth opportunities.
This is a broad ranging accounting and financial reporting role, which also needs to manage a range of quite complex financial administration. As such, this role provides leadership in the finance space, but also definitely needs a person who is happy to roll up their sleeves and at times be quite hands on. Externally the role is supported by a CA firm, who take care of finalising year end and provide tax advice, so this role is more about running all the monthly accounting routines, with the support of one administrator.
We view this position as ideally suiting a range of candidates who could bring a combination of either tertiary qualifications and or a broader practical accounting experience gained from either the chartered accounting or the commercial sector. For some potential candidates who would say they are "qualified by experience" this role will offer you seniority, but still at a level where you are focused on running things efficiently and meeting key accounting reporting deadlines.
Working as part of a cohesive head office team this role still plays a central role in supporting the business and with this will come other opportunities to grow and gain broader business experience. Strong interpersonal skills, a high level of computer literacy, good attention to detail, a proactive approach and a capacity for hard work are also important prerequisites.
