We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Academic Student Advisor to join our team in Hamilton, New Zealand. In this role, you will provide comprehensive guidance and support to students throughout their academic journey, ensuring their success and overall well-being.
Responsibilities Advise students on academic matters, including course selection, degree requirements, and academic policies and procedures.
Assist students in developing and achieving their educational and career goals through personalized advising sessions.
Monitor student progress and intervene when necessary to address academic challenges or concerns.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records and documentation using student information systems.
Collaborate with faculty, staff, and other campus resources to ensure seamless support for students.
Participate in outreach and recruitment activities to promote academic programs and services.
Stay informed about changes in academic policies, regulations, and best practices in student advising.
Qualifications Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse student populations.
Strong organizational and time management abilities to handle multiple tasks and priorities.
Comprehensive knowledge of academic policies, procedures, and degree requirements.
Proficiency in using student information systems, databases, and relevant software applications.
Problem-solving and decision-making skills to address complex student issues.
Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field (e.g., education, counseling, or related discipline).
Experience in academic advising or a related field is preferred.
Familiarity with student development theories and practices is desirable.
Knowledge of the educational system and regulations in New Zealand is an advantage.
