We are seeking a passionate leader to join our Te Puna Matauranga (Learning Support) team who enjoys working with akonga, whanau, and kaiako to help us on our journey towards being a "great" school that honours Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
The successful applicant will have excellent interpersonal skills and a passion to make a difference. A strong commitment to restorative practices and culturally responsive and relational teaching is essential.
You will collaborate with kaiako, whanau, and external specialists to design and implement individual education plans and create support strategies as required.
Required skills and qualifications:
Ability to lead and inspire a large team of learning support assistants
Ability to build strong and effective relationships both within school and with multiple external agencies
Ability to provide support for individual students and groups of students to grow their engagement in learning and their academic achievement
A sound understanding of students with neurodiverse needs
Work closely with the Deputy Principal - Learning Support, Learning Support Coordinators, and other classroom teachers to ensure that all students on the SWAN register receive tailored support
Strong familiarity with MoE and RTLB funding and referral processes
Familiarity with IEP documentation and processes
A thorough understanding of learning support systems to support students
Strong experience in coordinating the SAC process
