2024-2025 Casual / On-Call - Clerical Assistant

School District 8 - Kootenay Lake is looking for qualified candidates to work on an as-needed basis as a Casual / On-Call Clerical Assistant. Qualified candidates will be considered for placement on the established casual lists for each of the Family of Schools within the District: Creston, Crawford Bay, Nelson, Salmo, Kaslo, and Slocan Valley.
Note: A Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check will be required from successful applicants, with a review every five (5) years.
Job Requirements:
Completion of an Office Administration program certificate and/or equivalent experience with at least two (2) years' full time experience, within the last five (5) years, in an office environment.
Proven ability to operate a variety of office equipment and computer systems with word processing, spreadsheet, database and communication applications.
Exercises initiative, independent judgement and discretion.
Works as part of a team and maintains a professional working relationship with all school personnel, students, parents and the public.
Works independently and manages time effectively with excellent organizational skills.
Maintains confidentiality.
Follows School District policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
Adapts to frequent technological change (training will be provided).
Must have understanding and knowledge of safe work practices.
Performs other job-related duties as may be assigned.
Job Conditions:
Work is indoors in clean, well-lighted and heated buildings.
May face a variety of situations requiring decision making and action in accordance with protocols prescribed by the Principal or Site Supervisor.
