About the role | Ko te mahi nei Our Residential Red Zone team manages natural and developed open space in and around Otakaro-Avon River Corridor, Southshore, Brooklands and Te Pataka o Rakaihautu-Banks Peninsula. As a Parks and Gardens Maintenance Officer you'll leverage your interests and experience in horticulture and the natural environment to help maintain and enhance the values of the previously Red-Zoned properties. You will be delivering a wide range of maintenance, upkeep, and improvements to Christchurch City's Residential Red Zone Parks. Within the team you will be carrying out a range of activities, and your duties will include: Mowing and line trimming Weeding of gardens and planted areas Maintaining shrubs and small trees Maintaining pathways and hard surfaces Planting and supporting the preparation of planting areas Keeping our amenity areas tidy and in hygienic conditions Rubbish collection. Pest plant and animal control About you | Ko Koe Tenei The role of Parks and Gardens Maintenance Officer is maintenance focused. You'll be a committed team player who is always looking for ways to learn, grow and improve. You will be ensuring all aspects of our areas such as turf, plantings and gardens, and all associated furnishings are maintained to the highest standard. Additionally, you will support the day-to-day initiatives that the wider team works towards to promote a space rich in regenerative activity. You will have a full driver's license, level 4 National Certificate in Horticulture or equivalent, or extensive experience in similar role. A passion for the natural environment and our indigenous flora and fauna is also of importance. A Grow Safe qualification, class two truck licence and W endorsement would be highly desirable but not essential. CCC will help you gain these qualifications if you do not have them. Salary : The salary band for this position goes from $62,674 - $69,638 per annum. Starting salaries will be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role, and relativities both, within the immediate team and in the broader organisation for the same or similar roles.
