Details of the offer

Volunteers help to create a friendly, welcoming atmosphere, and provide support for family, whanau and friends of the patients who may be in attendance. This may involve making and serving tea and coffee and offering sandwiches and fruit when available, as well as a friendly chat.
You will need to be a good listener, with the ability to communicate with people from a wide variety of backgrounds. Volunteers need to be warm and approachable while at the same time be aware of their boundaries - volunteers must maintain strict confidentiality and must not discuss any aspects for their own medical issues while on duty.
Scheduled days

9am - 3pm
You will receive training from the Cancer Society prior to commencing duties and will be supported by staff at Waikato Hospital.
Requirements: You must have good communication and listening skills. You need to be non-judgmental and empathetic . We are looking for reliable, trustworthy people who can make others feel at ease. Provision of baking is optional.
A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment: Weekly or fortnightly shifts available
