Child Welfare, Youth & Family Services (Community Services & Development) 1. Oversee the ministry to youth at The River Christian Church Pukekohe The primary focus of the youth pastor will be seeking to grow and develop the youth membership of The River through a Friday night youth program. The Youth Ministry is defined as children between the ages of 11 and 18, or those who are in school years 7-13 (intermediates & college age). 2. The overall goal for the youth pastor is to grow the youth ministry of The River Pukekohe and help develop youth into young adults who: Are revived – they have a living, current relationship with Jesus Christ, and demonstrate visible hunger for God and His kingdom. Are connected – with one another, and with the wider community of The River Pukekohe. They are morally excellent and socially well-rounded. Are empowered – they know how to pray and hear from God, and experience the power of the Holy Spirit. They know their Bible and how to study and apply the Word of God to their lives. They know their gifting and calling and are learning to walk in them. Are pouring out – they demonstrate an active faith and are intentional in advancing the kingdom of God through their various spheres of influence. 3. The youth pastor will run regular programs targeting each age group that impart Biblical concepts and encourage spiritual, social, and moral development. This includes: A weekly Friday night programme. A fortnightly Sunday morning intermediates programme. Events and activities in school holidays. 4. The youth pastor will oversee pastoral care for the young people in The River, assisting and empowering them individually to grow in their faith. 5. The youth pastor will identify, encourage, equip, and release leaders to do the work of ministry to youth. These are leaders who will: Model the vision and heart of The River to those they lead. Assist in leading programs which impart Biblical concepts and encourage spiritual, social, and moral development. Assist with pastoral care for individual youth. 6. Serve and assist as required in Sunday morning church meetings Serving and assisting the Location Pastor as needed in various roles (e.g., setting up, preaching, service leading, other areas as required). Connecting with youth and parents of youth at Sunday morning church meetings. 7. Work with Pukekohe pastor/team to input into and co-ordinate various church events/resources This includes attending regular staff meetings and one-on-one meetings with the location pastor. Attending other event-based meetings as required as part of the leadership/staff team - especially events that have a youth focus. 8. Connect with local schools and build kingdom connections with other youth pastors/leaders Identifying and building connections with local intermediate/high schools. Building connections and relationships with other local youth pastors/youth workers.
