Auckland Council has an opportunity to join the Waste Solutions team as a WasteWise Advisor in a fixed term part time (24 hours) opportunity till 6th June 2025 .
You will help develop and deliver local waste minimisation solutions in the community, with a particular focus on culturally and linguistically diverse communities. This role will see you providing advisory services to the community through face-to-face outreach and engagement activities in a field-based role.
Day-to-day you can expect to work on:
Be the face of Waste Solutions by engaging with communities from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and working in non-English speaking environments.
Deliver workshops, staff stalls and displays at markets, events and public places, street intercepts, community open days, local canvassing etc.
Recording and analysing field data for programme design input.
Role model and mentor community champions. Involve people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds in the planning and delivery of community engagement activities.
You will need to be rostered to work busy weekends and public holidays as well as having an afterhours element, so flexibility will be vital.
The salary range for this role is between $63,000 - $73,000.

As this role involves travel and site visits, a valid clean full NZ driver's licence is essential. If you're bilingual, that would be a huge advantage, and we encourage you to showcase this in your application.
We will be looking for the following:
A tertiary qualification is preferred in environmental studies, education, community development or related field, or equivalent gained through relevant experience.
At least 3 years of experience in a similar role with a customer focused approach.
A passion for sustainability and solid understanding of the Zero Waste concept and its environmental impact.
A successful track record of working in a challenging environment with competing priorities.
