About the role: The Waste Minimisation Officer will work within the Solid Waste Team, which is dedicated to diverting waste from landfill, ensuring that high standards of customer service are achieved whilst proactively demonstrating our Ta matou mauri values.
Key responsibilities will include:
Coordinating management and delivery of waste minimisation programmes and services, which may include linking in with the likes of Enviroschools Canterbury, Love Food Hate Waste, and event management.Responding to service requests, enquiries, applications and complaints relating to waste minimisation and diversion services.Collaborating with other Council departments to engage with District residents, businesses and organisations around waste minimisation.Assisting in SWAP audits and reporting in accordance with the Waste Management & Minimisation Plan.Our ideal candidate will have: Good communication skills to enable you to work with a wide range of stakeholders both within and outside of the Council, including front-facing education programmes.A strong work ethic, good eye for detail and collaborative approach.Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills.At least four years' experience in solid waste management and minimisation.The ability to prioritise workloads and deal with multiple tasks in high-pressure situations.Excellent computer skills, particularly with the Microsoft Office suite.An understanding of the political landscape and the ability to be media savvy.This role offers a candidate the chance to experience a challenging work environment where our staff really make a difference.
