About the Role
Ventia is seeking a Transport Supervisor to manage and support the efficient delivery of Transport and Mail Services under the Defence Contract. Based at HMAS Cerberus on the Mornington Peninsula, this role involves overseeing all aspects of fleet management, driver compliance, and safety standards ensuring contract obligations are met at all times.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure contract obligations and service delivery are met.
Manage and operate fleet vehicles, including Defence and hired vehicles.
Guide and train Transport staff in accordance with Defence and Ventia's policies (e.g., Electronic Supply Chain Manual, Defence Road Transport Manual).
Coordinate daily transport tasks, including personnel transport, medical samples, mail delivery, and dignitary transport.
Oversee vehicle inspections, maintenance, fuel management, and documentation.
Provide booking services for self-drive vehicles and driver allocations.
Manage vehicle recovery, repairs, and fleet record-keeping.
Promote a customer service culture and ensure client satisfaction.
Manage administrative tasks such as reporting, timesheets, procurement, and budgeting.
Assist in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service efficiency and reduce costs.
Maintain and promote safety awareness.
Oversee functions of the Ventia mailroom service.
Maintain a valid driver's license and ensure staff are fully trained and compliant.
Key Skills and Experience
Proven experience in Transport, Logistics, or Supply Chain (preferably linehaul or public transport).
Relevant qualifications in Transport, Logistics, or Supply Chain operations.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance.
Familiarity with Defence and Ventia systems.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
Flexibility and adaptability to manage multiple tasks and changing priorities.
You must be an Australian Citizen and have the ability to maintain a Defence clearance in order to be eligible for these positions, as well as be able to pass an Australian Federal Police Check and Medical Pre-Employment Checks as required by the contract.
