Our horticultural client is currently seeking hard working Irrigation Operators to join their team fixed term until approximately May/June 2025. Reporting to the Farm Operation's Manager, you will be required to operate machinery such as tractors and help maintain irrigation equipment on site e.g. vehicles, irrigators, pumps and pipes.
This role is physical so the ideal candidate must be physically fit, able to problem solve, mechanically inclined and happy working outdoors! You will be assisting with seasonal work which doesn't stop over the Summer, so availability is a MUST. You will have 25th December off, but other stat days you must be available to be rostered. No flexibility for holidays, this role requires full commitment to the entire season.
This is strictly a temporary, fixed term position extending from November 2024 to May/June 2025 – season dependent.
You can expect:

40-50 hours per week.
Monday to Sunday rostering – shifts allocated fairly.
$25-26p/hr + 8% holiday pay.
6 months of work.
Access to staff produce and vegetables.
Work required during December/January.
Christmas Day off.

Duties Include:

Utilise physical fitness and understanding of basic mechanics to maintain irrigation equipment.
Perform maintenance on tractors, vehicles, irrigators, pumps, and pipes.
Problem solve with equipment and maintain efficiency.
Follow instructions from Farm Managers and supervisors.
Adhere to Health & Safety protocols on site.
Communicate with team effectively and clearly – team player.

Role Requirements:

MUST have Full Class 1 License.
MUST have experience operating a tractor.
MUST have car to get to work, no public transport.
Good work ethic and physically fit.
Mechanically inclined – able to maintain/fix equipment.
Positive attitude, sense of humour and proactive.
Able to communicate well and work in a team.
Clean MOJ and pre-employment drug testing required.
