EQC Toka Tu Ake is an Aotearoa (NZ) Crown entity that invests in natural disaster research and education as well as providing natural disaster insurance to residential property owners. The purpose of this role is to assist with technical advice relating to natural disaster assessments, repair methodologies, repair costings and review of engineering and other specialist reports as required. This role will support the Settlement Specialist and Contraction Settlement Specialist and work with the Technical Support Team.

As Technical Specialist you will be responsible for:
Providing Technical Advice and Support Provide recommendations and guidance to the Settlement Specialist and Construction Specialist participate in decision making Technical Management, establishing which issues need to be escalated Ko wai koe | About You Current Licensed Building Practitioner or relevant building qualification Sound practical and technical knowledge of residential house construction and repair techniques, including residential drainage assessment. A good knowledge of: the local (and to the extent relevant regional) authority consenting requirements for residential house construction and repair requirements under the Building Act (including the building Code, associated MBIE Guidelines and New Zealand Standards) relevant to residential house construction and repair. Experience in assessing natural disaster damage and providing repair methodologies for claim settlement. Experience in the estimation of repair costs using cost estimation procedures and an ability to work collaboratively with Quantity Surveyors, Claim Managers & Settlement Specialists. Ability to deal with complexity and multiple demands. Highly organised with a demonstrated ability to manage both upwards and downwards, prioritise, plan, and manage busy workloads effectively.
