We now have one permanent full-time opportunity for a: Technical Assistant In this role, you will be responsible for day-to-day vineyard duties focused on the seasonally relevant and time-critical collection of viticultural data. As a self-motivated and enthusiastic individual, you'll be a part of a proactive team who are passionate about creating wines that you'll want to share.This role is based at the Wither Hills Winery in Marlborough and covers both company-owned and leased vineyards across the region as well as occasionally supporting the grower program.Full time (40 hours per week) with flexibility required to do more during the frost season, spring, and harvest. Hourly rate $31.65 to $32.65 depending on experience.Skills you will bring:Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field.At least 2 years post-qualification relevant vineyard experience.12 months proven pest & disease identification experience.Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) as well as experience with viticultural software & apps such as Grapelink, Sustainable Winegrowing NZ, Fruition Horticulture, etc.Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.Exposure to handling multiple deadlines while being quality-focused.Positive attitude, good level of physical fitness with a love of working outdoors as the role involves a lot of fieldwork.Activities you'll be doing:Collection and recording of viticultural and environmental data.Maintaining and updating databases.Verification of sprayer and irrigation system calibration and accurate performance during seasonal vineyard operations.Ensure compliance and assist in company and SWNZ audits.Make sure resource consent requirements are met.Pest and disease identification, yield estimations.At Wither Hills and Lion, we choose to be a leader in driving inclusion, diversity, and gender parity.
