Are you ready to make an impact in our Central City community?
We are looking for an experienced Team Leader to join our dedicated Central City Hub team. This new role, Team Leader Community Connection, in the Central City Hub contributes to our commitment to creating safer places for people to participate in, meet, connect and enjoy community and civic life in the Central City.
We're looking for strong candidates that will be able to hit the ground running with experience building community connection by engaging with our community to meet the changing needs of our place and people, supporting access to spaces and resources, as well as increasing participation in programmes and activities across the hub.
This role is a key member of the Central City Hub leadership team, who are collectively responsible for delivering a wide range of responsive services and programs for all Aucklanders in the Central City, particularly from Tamaki Pataka Korero – Auckland Central City Library, the Ellen Melville Centre, Te Wharekura and the Albert Park Caretaker's Cottage.
Among others, your day-to-day duties will be to:
Respond to the needs and priorities of the Waitemata local board and community by creating powerful programmes and outreach opportunities.Connect with diverse communities and community partners to design and deliver relevant services, programmes and initiatives in an environment of positive, local support that is inclusive, acknowledging a wide range of cultures and identities with special attention to whanau and youth.Support the design and implementation of service improvement initiatives.Engage with community and support learning and development outcomes.Maintain partner relationships with local stakeholders, individuals and community organisations, supporting belonging and participation.Support venue hire services and access to community and library resources.We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who is inspired and excited about working with our diverse Central City community. You will have previous experience in leading a team and successfully delivering community-based initiatives along with in-depth knowledge of community development approaches that build a sense of place and belonging.
You will be passionate about libraries and the services we offer to our community, enhancing whanau wellbeing, building partnerships with internal/external stakeholders as well as implementing and overseeing place-based initiatives with local and regional impact. Strong communication and relationship building skills are a must, as well as an ability to plan and foster inclusive community outreach and engagement initiatives that ensure our Central City Hub spaces are safer, trusted, inclusive, well maintained and welcoming for all.
You'll also understand the importance of relationships with Maori in Tamaki Makaurau and are committed to the recognition of te ao Maori in this role. Ideally you can pronounce and use basic te reo Maori in emails, meetings and conversations and be led by and enable tikanga practice that recognises and enhances the mana of staff and community, and enhances Maori identity and wellbeing.
