Cambridge High School (CHS) is a co-educational school, established in 1883, with a roll of approximately 1,800 students. Cambridge High School serves the interests of the community incredibly well, meeting the varied academic, trades, cultural and sporting needs of our students. Places at CHS are highly sought after with families choosing to move into town to gain access to the school.
An opportunity exists to join our English faculty. The faculty is very collegial, collaborative, supportive, and forward-thinking in its approach. Its members are not afraid to take steps into the unknown if they believe it is in the best interests of the students. Many of this faculty co-teach classes and while this is not a must for all classes, it does enhance the collaborative environment that is expected as a member of this team. The ideal candidate will be open to engaging in learning about how to be more culturally responsive and willing to make changes to their practice to reflect this. Ideally, having current NCEA knowledge and experience is preferred. Staff wellbeing and a student-centred approach are the two driving forces of this faculty, and the ideal candidate will place strong emphasis on this in their practice. The successful applicant will enjoy having fun at work both in the classroom and in the faculty spaces. We welcome applications from candidates who are open to learning and working within the kind of environment that we have described.
