Surgical Nurse Educator Nelson Nurse Educator – Surgical (Nelson) Permanent 0.7FTE, 56 hours/fortnight (Monday to Friday) Time to make a career move and take on a nurse educator role Enable, extend and develop the nursing workforce Opportunity to have a greater impact on patient outcomes by having a key role in workforce development The Nurse Educator surgical services is a key member of both the surgical wards and the Workforce Development teams. Although based at Nelson Hospital, this role will also provide support for other areas in the organisation.
As a Nurse Educator, it is your role to coach and educate staff to their best potential, resulting in improved experiences for our health consumers. You will work alongside the surgical teams in a clinical coach/mentoring capacity, establishing a high standard of fundamentals of care provided to patients and their whanau, leading and embedding evidence-based practice, developing education strategies, involving staff in identifying areas for development, and developing objectives and plans in order to help staff apply learnings to practice.
A large component of this role will be ensuring that clinical quality systems are in place within and across our nursing services to enhance care delivery.

You will be an experienced, resilient, and adaptable registered nurse with a current practicing certificate and extensive nursing experience. You will have excellent communication and engagement skills, and you will have demonstrated your ability to teach adults in both formal and informal settings. You will have a current Expert portfolio (or working towards) and a Certificate in Adult Teaching Level 4, as well as a Master's of Nursing level postgraduate education, or working towards (essential).
