RoleThe Student Wellbeing Assistant will be an education support staff member responsible for Koorie Students and monitoring student attendance. They will work with staff, students, and parents to support the attendance, mental health, and development of students. They will report directly to the Wellbeing leading Teacher and work closely with the Wellbeing Coordinator.
The position is 5 days a week, normal school hours.
ResponsibilitiesSupport Out Of Home Care and Koorie students.Coordinating the development and maintenance of Individual Learning Plans for Out Of Home Care, DI, potential DI and Koorie students.Communicate with parents and guardians and provide support and referrals when necessary.Assisting submissions for D.I.Ps and assisting implementation of adjustments for DI students.Monitor student attendance and communicate with families to support students with low attendance.Work with outside agencies to support students with low attendance such as Navigator and Orange Door.Referral of students to, and liaison with external agencies, e.g., Alexandra Health, KESO.Assist with the exchange of information between external agencies and the school, e.g., DHHS.Arrange assessments of students to ascertain support required.Attend, organise and chair Student Support Group meetings with Year Level Coordinators, other leaders, and staff as required.Work collaboratively with the wellbeing team to have an understanding of issues affecting the student body, and support interventions for students.Refer students with complex needs to appropriate outside agencies.Liaise with outside bodies, such as DFFH, Orange Door, and Family Care, to support the wellbeing of students.Support the arrangement of assessments for students with specific needs where possible.Support school staff with information and strategies to assist the students to learn effectively and engage with their education.Maintain notes about work with students and families.Maintain professional competence and continued professional learning.Meet relevant policies and legislative requirements in relation to student privacy.Other duties as directed by the Principal.Who May ApplyIndividuals with the aptitude, experience and/or qualifications to fulfill the specific requirements of the position.
