Stonefruit Thinners

A Central Otago Stonefruit Orchard is looking for thinners to join our team for the 2024-25 Season. McIntosh Orchard is based in Earnscleugh, Alexandra, which has amazing views of the entire basin. We are 10 minutes by car from Alexandra or Clyde, and around an hour by car to Queenstown or Wanaka.The thinning season will last for 4-5 weeks from the 4th of November, depending on weather and workload. The typical day goes from 8 am to 4:30 pm, 5 days a week (6-day weeks may happen if all staff agree to it). Thinning training will occur at the start of the season, so staff understand our thinning standards.* Applications will only be accepted from New Zealand Citizens/Residents, and people who hold a valid work visa & are already in New Zealand*We ideally would like someone who:Has some experience thinning (kiwifruit, other stonefruit, etc.).Ladder confident.Ability to communicate effectively with all staff members, and proficient in spoken English.Has a good level of fitness.Is a highly motivated, adaptable person who is willing to work early mornings and weekends where required.Can perform laborious tasks repeatedly (involving bending, reaching above head, etc.).Works well in a team environment and independently.Able to pick up skills quickly.Accommodation is available on request but very limited.
