Starting salary: $72,944 to $85,088 negotiable + superannuation

The roles | Te tunga
We have 6 Statistical and Data Analyst roles available across our Macroeconomic, Population and Housing, and Social and Environment statistical delivery branches. All roles are permanent unless stated otherwise.
Reporting to the Unit Manager of one of the teams below, as a Statistical and Data Analyst you will be responsible for leading the production of statistical and data products and services for our customers. You will work across a range of subject matter areas and data sources. Statistical and Data Analysts are responsible for analysing data and drawing appropriate interpretations and conclusions using excellent judgement and awareness of appropriate conceptual frameworks and real-world events.
This team is responsible for producing the quarterly Consumers Price Index, Household Living-Cost Price Indexes, Business Price Indexes, Labour Cost Index, and monthly Selected Price Indexes.
Roles available include 1 x permanent Statistical and Data Analyst and 2 x fixed term Statistical and Data Analysts (between 12 - 18 months).
Based in Wellington.
This team is responsible for the preparation of international travel and migration statistics, as well as the continuous improvement of the migration data model. We are also responsible for the preparation of dwelling and housing quality statistics.
Based in Christchurch.
The focus of this team is producing data and statistics that contribute to our understanding of supply and demand factors of the labour market in Aotearoa New Zealand. The labour and employment markets are dynamic and have many dimensions that we need to produce data and statistics about.
Based in Wellington.
This team is responsible for producing statistics about social wellbeing, disability and workplace injuries in Aotearoa New Zealand. These statistics are used across government and by community organisations to support work towards better and more equitable outcomes.
It is an exciting time to join the team as it progresses design thinking on the future collection of social and community statistics and delivering an enhanced range of key insights to make a difference in the lives of New Zealanders.
Based in Wellington or Christchurch.
These roles would suit someone who can bring:
Experience and interest in macroeconomic, population and housing, or social and environment data.
A bachelor's degree in a relevant field (computer science, statistics, etc.) that has a significant data component or equivalent experience.
Experience or willingness to learn writing and using R, SAS or other programming languages.
Strengths in writing plain English insights and documentation, and love of good processes.
Examples of your curiosity, data analysis skills, and ability to problem solve.
Great written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate and influence a range of people.
Any information about your knowledge and experience, or desire to learn and build knowledge and experience of Te Tiriti, Tikanga, Te Reo and Te Ao Maori, and engagement with Maori.
Have demonstrated, encouraged or supported diversity and inclusion in or outside of work.
Experience in working to tight deadlines, good time management skills, and ability to adapt and respond to new information.
