About the role:
We are looking for a Sport Tutor to join our Christchurch campus for the new year.
In this role, you will be walking into an energetic campus environment where value is placed on delivering outcomes rather than micro-managing work and tasks. You will be given autonomy to work in a way that gets the best results and will be expected to take responsibility and make things happen.
Some of your key responsibilities:
Deliver our Sport, Recreation and Exercise courses in a way that brings our curriculum alive for the students in a fun, interactive and practical delivery mode. Course content will be delivered in both practical outdoor and in-class settings.
Mentor students and track our student success through effective programme leadership and provide pastoral care.
Stay abreast of latest industry trends and make recommendations to programme design and assessment and curriculum development.
Develop and support to grow the number of students gaining successful career pathways in sport, recreation and exercise industries
About you:
To be a Sport Tutor, you must have a tertiary qualification in Sport Management, Exercise Science or other related fields, and have relevant industry experience in the sport, exercise, or recreation industry.
You will describe yourself as an enthusiastic and motivated self-starter who has a passion for the sports fitness and recreation industries and have will have networks within the sport, exercise and/or recreation communities.
Previous teaching experience is not essential but highly advantageous. All the resources will be provided to enable you to effectively deliver the programme and you will receive all the training and development opportunities required for your career development as an educator. An ability to connect with tertiary students through creative, exciting and motivational delivery methods is essential.
Required skills and experience:
A relevant tertiary qualification in Sport, Sport Management, Exercise Science or other related fields – at a minimum of level 4 or above
Proven experience within a role related to sport, exercise, fitness or recreation sector
A strong drive to develop others and prepare them to achieve and be successful
High level of interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
A genuine interest in and passion for cultural diversity and developing relationships within the community
Group training or teaching experience in a multi-cultural environment (preferred but not essential) and the ability to work with others.
