Sport Tasman Community Outcomes Advisor, Marlborough Sport Tasman is one of 14 charitable regional sports trusts that support New Zealanders to be more active and healthy. As a charity, we work alongside our communities in Kaikoura, Marlborough, Buller, Nelson and Tasman to create and support countless physical activity opportunities across Te Tau Ihu o Te Waka (Top of the South Island).
Our purpose is to enhance lives through physical activity. As a trust, our mission is to empower the sector to provide high quality and equitable physical activity opportunities. Our vision is for everyone to be active.
Physical activity helps to bring communities together and is a powerful social development tool. Across Te Tau Ihu o Te Waka, sport and recreation actively engage more than 80% of our population. Some 25,000 volunteers help make sport and recreation possible across 540 clubs and community organisations and 117 schools and colleges.

The primary focus of this role is to improve Sport, Active Recreation and Play experiences for young people and connect a community to support physical activity opportunities that help enhance hauora/wellbeing.
This role will be supported by the Play, Active Recreation and Sport (PARS) Manager and will work in collaboration with Sport Tasman's subject matter experts including Sport Development Advisor, Disability Advisor, Regional Sport Developer (RSD) and the Healthy Active Learning (HAL) team.
To be successful in this role, the Community Outcomes Advisor will:
Bring our Sport Tasman vision, strategy and funded outcomes to life in identified communities across the Marlborough region.
Provide sector leadership via identified projects to the Marlborough Community: Enabling and empowering the sector to prioritise and deliver high quality and equitable physical activity opportunities.
Provide sector capability build via identified projects: Equipping the sector with the necessary skills to deliver high quality and equitable physical activity opportunities.
Ensure the mahi has an inclusive lens, encouraging safe opportunities for women and girls, and/or disabled youth and/or Maori youth to participate.
Seek collaborative partnerships with local government agencies, local sports organisations, recreation bodies, and local schools that align with the Healthy Active Learning team in Geographic Priority Communities and invested partners.
The person taking on this role will need to have an A+ approach to planning and be able to build strong relationships at a variety of levels (rangatahi, Council, Iwi, Youth Council, Primary/Kura/Secondary schools, Active Recreation Providers, other stakeholders, and funders).
Your skills, willingness to collaborate, and effervescent personality will help you achieve your key work outcomes and provide inspiration for the Marlborough community. This role will require you to keep well connected both internally and externally, engaged, and focused to complete tasks to an elevated level.
QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE
Experience or qualification in active recreation and sport.
Proven experience of holding quality relationships with community or industry organisations.
Proven experience of collaborating with community organisations to achieve a common goal.
Proven experience of working to achieve KPI's/outcomes.
Proven experience of meeting deadlines and managing multiple tasks concurrently.
Proven experience in co-design planning and project development.
Proven ability of turning insights into action projects.
A high level of administrative detail and discipline.
Proven experience with facilitation of groups.
Preferred:
Sport and recreation industry knowledge.
Coach Developer or Coach Trainer experience or the willingness to learn and upskill in this area.
First Aid Certificate.
Note:
This role is for 40hrs per week. Flexible working hours may be required at times.
This role has access to a shared fleet vehicle for work commitments.
