Job Description: Position: Transcript Editor Department: Court Reporting Location & Hours of Working: Flexible Reports to & Reviewed By: General Manager Reports & Reviews: None Primary contacts: Operations Manager, Operations Team, Transcription Manager and Transcription Team Summary of role: An experienced editor, who is a fast learner and has a positive attitude. The Transcript Editor's primary responsibility is to proofread and check for accuracy in transcripts that have been produced by speech recognition software and ensure that the finalised transcripts adhere to Epiq client style requirements. Please note hearings may include material of a highly confidential nature, which can be emotionally challenging. AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY INCLUDE: Major Activities and Responsibilities To be familiar with Epiq client Style Guidelines in order to identify errors and inconsistencies in completed transcripts produced by speech recognition software To proofread and amend screen-based transcripts including court proceedings, litigations, arbitrations, conferences, meetings, disciplinary hearings and dictation To conduct style, formatting, content and inaudible checks on all speech recognition transcript files prior to client delivery, making use of audio and any supporting materials, including glossaries and lists of speaker names To carry out transcription when required, producing transcripts from multi-speaker audio following the Epiq Style Guidelines To report on transcript quality and recommend solutions as and when required Duties may be added or varied in response to the demands of the business Interpersonal Management: To maintain open and appropriate communication lines, building relationships with internal team members and handling all interactions in a professional manner To liaise effectively with the operations team to ensure delivery deadlines are met To be flexible and adaptable in approach To communicate positively at all levels To ensure confidentiality in all company and client documentation Outputs: To produce accurate and correctly formatted transcripts To provide appropriate and relevant Quality Feedback on transcripts produced by speech recognition software Key Competencies required: Excellent English language skills Proven commitment to accuracy at a rate of 99% Ability to touch-type - minimum speed of 60 wpm preferred Excellent attention to detail Excellent organisational and time management skills Ability to manage and prioritise own workload Ability to work accurately under pressure Ability to work to deadlines Ability to handle confidential information Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Strong written and oral communication skills Good general knowledge Familiarity with transcription and audio conversion software preferred Desirable but not essential: Knowledge of FTR, Liberty recording systems used in hearings If you like wild growth and working with happy, enthusiastic over-achievers, you'll enjoy your career with us!
