About the role
You will work with the community and stakeholders to develop sustainable waste solutions, implement Council's Waste Management and Minimisation Plan, support and facilitate the Enviroschools programme including:
Facilitate the Enviroschools programme within the Grey District.
Oversee Solid Waste operations contracts including acting as the Engineer's Representative.
Implement and continually review Council's Waste Management and Minimisation Plan.
Develop relationships with key internal and community stakeholders.
Collect, interpret and analyse waste minimisation data to inform reporting and decision-making.
Understand and effectively apply relevant legislation, policy and standards.
About you
Ideally you will have experience in a Waste Minimisation role or/and Environmental Educational role. However, we do consider Graduate entry level with skills to be working in a hands-on capacity as you contribute to a greater team or company goals.
You will need:
A Full Drivers licence.
Experience with NZS 3910/3917 contracts and acting as Engineers Representative.
At least 5 years equivalent experience in Education/Engineering or relevant field.
Tertiary qualification in Education/Engineering or relevant field – degree level desirable.
Be able to pass a police vetting process, in particular relating to working with school age learners.
It is an advantage if you have:
Experience in waste minimisation or similar, or recent graduate in environmental studies.
Experience with NZS 3910/3917 contracts and acting as Engineers Representative.
An excellent understanding of sustainability.
Experience in a behaviour change, programme management role, and/or local government waste management environment for at least 5 years.
Previous experience in managing external waste education service providers contractors and or staff.
A successful track record of working in a challenging environment with competing priorities.
The ability to build positive relationships.
The ability to work independently.
