We have a part-time, permanent opportunity available to join our Te Waipounamu regional team as a Smoking Cessation / Quit Coach | Whakapikia Auahi Kore.
The Smoking Cessation / Quit Coach role will carry out the Oranga Ha stop smoking service functions.
This role sits in the Community and Whanau Wellbeing team of National Public Health Service (NPHS) which aims to enhance the health and wellbeing of the whole community.
This includes supporting action which positively influences the determinants of health, eliminates health disparities, honours Te Tiriti and builds towards Pae Ora (healthy futures).
The FTE for this role is 0.5, 20 hours per week.
Salary Range: Allied, Public Health, Scientific & Technical Collective Agreement: 5.2.7 Core Scales Step 1 $77087 to Step 3 $88627 Location: Greymouth + Westport + Hokitika Mou | About you The ideal candidate for this role is able to hit the ground running whilst displaying their skills as a self-starter able to take initiative and work with people in a caring/advisory role to create behaviour change.
You are someone with strong problem solving and analytical skills combined with an ability to quickly assimilate new information.
You are able to demonstrate a strong drive to deliver and take personal responsibility.
Nga pukenga me nga wheako | Skills and experience A qualification in addiction, counselling, behaviour change, smoking cessation practitioner training, public health, social science, education, Maori studies or related fields or equivalent experience, including lived experience.
Previous experience in smoking cessation, behaviour change or a related role.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively alongside clients, communities and wider stakeholders.
Knowledge of the New Zealand health system and public health service delivery including knowledge of smokefree issues and their relation to individual, whanau and public health.
Full New Zealand drivers licence.
Experience in implementing Te Tiriti o Waitangi in action.
Able to establish and maintain positive working relationships with people at all levels within the public and private sectors, related industry and community interest groups and the wider national and international communities.
