Bring your expertise and experience to investigate and assess catchment restoration techniques suitable to enhance the health and resilience of our region's land, freshwater, biodiversity and communities. This is a permanent, full-time role based in our Masterton office.About the role:As a Senior Specialist, you will work alongside other specialists and scientists across a broad range of disciplines with a focus on land. You will work in topic-based teams to design and produce quality technical knowledge to meet the needs of the Environment Group, communities and mana whenua partners.You will have the ability to commission, deliver and translate research and specialist knowledge to inform decision making for: policy development, operational work programs and evaluation.Working alongside multidisciplinary teams, you will:Commission purposeful research and/or investigations for land-based catchment restoration techniques and identify how this can be implemented into work programmes.Draw on expert knowledge of land-based catchment restoration methods as well as broad knowledge from other domains to critically assess evidence and information from multiple sources.Understand and uphold tikanga for the inclusion of Matauranga Maori in investigation/research, analysis, and interpretation for the Environment Groups work programmes.Share your knowledge with other professionals within the Environment Group, mana whenua and community groups to support sound decision making.Skills and experience required:Relevant post-graduate qualifications in Natural, Environmental or Agricultural Science or similar.At least five years' experience.Ability to problem-solve and collaborate to resolve conflicting perspectives to determine a position and reflect that in advice.Skills in presenting data and information to make it accessible to non-technical audiences.Strong networking and communication skills.Understanding of the importance of working in partnerships with others.Self-motivation and the ability to work without close supervision.The ability to work in a friendly, co-operative collaborative manner with other professional disciplines.A full and current driver licence.What we offer:Work to suit your life and whanau with our flexible working policy.We'll encourage you to grow and prosper with a range of learning and development opportunities, internal secondments and career progression.Your wellbeing is our priority - we'll provide medical and trauma insurance, support through our employee assistance programme or Manawa Ora providers, generous annual and sick leave, along with Tangihanga leave and support.We want you to have a sense of belonging, where you can reflect your personal and cultural identity in the way that you work.Social clubs, staff networks and a friendly and inclusive culture.Great working environments at our new central Cuba Street or Masterton offices.Come help treasure and grow our rohe togetherOur rohe and its lands, waterways, animals, plants and people can only grow stronger if they are nurtured.To join our team is to step up and commit to playing an active part in this important mahi.
