Company Our Client is a long-standing successful Engineering and Construction company that have established a strong reputation for completing large and challenging projects throughout New Zealand. They have many proud projects in their history and are seeking an experienced Head of Projects to join their team. The Role We are currently seeking a seasoned Senior Project Manager / Head of Projects to spearhead their dynamic project and estimation team. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, resourcing, and managing projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to specification. Key Responsibilities: Lead and manage projects to ensure the successful execution of contracts. Guide the estimation and project team in preparing and submitting accurate, cost-effective tenders, bids, and quotations in line with customer requirements. Develop and maintain project management team competency, including the implementation of an effective knowledge management system, processes, and procedures. Contribute significantly to the ongoing certification to ISO 9001 Quality Management Standard. Advocate for a safe and healthy work environment for all staff and visitors. The ability to understand business challenges and strategic opportunities, and to develop clear project plans to meet all objectives, goals, and commitments is paramount. This strategic role offers the opportunity to lead a high-performing, professional project management and estimation team, drive continuous improvement within a growing organisation, and align their project management standards and processes, fostering a culture of innovation and efficiency. Additional Responsibilities: Balance resource capacity and capability with known and anticipated demand. Oversee project reporting, risk management, quality assurance, scheduling, and project commercial functions. Ensure efficient and timely delivery of quotations, tender preparation, and submissions. The ideal candidate will be an empathetic, empowering, and people-focused leader, capable of fostering a high-performing team culture and driving organisational change. Days & Hours The position is salaried and would require the successful applicant to be available Monday - Friday, hours to be discussed.   Skills and Attributes Relevant Project Management certification(s) such as PMP. A minimum of 5-10 years of experience in comparable senior Project Manager roles, with a proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects. Comprehensive knowledge of project management techniques and disciplines. Ability to build strong, trusted relationships with key stakeholders. Excellent health, safety, and environmental management skills. Effective communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills. A relevant tertiary qualification in business/commerce, engineering, or equivalent. Demonstrated problem-solving skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and achieve results. Experience in managing vendor relationships.
