Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Civil Design Engineer to join their National Pavements Team.
This role will focus on leading pavement and asphalt surfacing rehabilitation projects across NZTA and Local Authority contracts, involving collaboration from concept design to construction.
Role Overview The Senior Design Engineer will be responsible for delivering pavement rehabilitation solutions, with a focus on quality, safety, and buildability.
This role involves project planning, supervision of technical investigations, and collaboration with asset managers and construction teams to ensure all designs meet client and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities Conducting detailed desktop analysis to identify priority rehabilitation sections.
Planning, executing, and supervising investigations to support optimal pavement design.
Preparing comprehensive design documentation (reports, specifications, and drawings).
Providing technical guidance to construction teams, with a focus on Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) and post-construction monitoring.
Contributing to forward work programs and identifying opportunities for improvement.
Candidate Requirements Experience: At least 5 years in pavement or civil engineering with a focus on pavement rehabilitation and asphalt surfacing.
Technical Skills: Proficient in RAMM, AutoCAD, CIRCLY, or similar design tools, with strong knowledge of geometric design and safety standards including "Safety in Design."
Project Management: Proven experience managing projects and collaborating with stakeholders.
Other: A full Class 1 Driver's License and flexibility to travel within New Zealand as needed.
