Job Description:
The Department of Strategic Communication offers several undergraduate programmes from a 2-year extended Diploma to a 3-year undergraduate diploma in Public Relations and Communication Management as well as an Advanced Diploma in Communication management. The Department offers an Extended Degree, a 3-year undergraduate Degree; a BA with Specialisation in Strategic Communication as well as an Honours, Masters and PhD in Strategic Communication. The Department plays a critical role in the University, Industry and the wider society by contributing to the growth of scholarship as well as practice of Strategic Communication nationally and internationally. The Department is dedicated to producing well-trained graduates who exhibit a highly sophisticated ability to internalise, reflect and communicate highly complex strategic decisions and applications effectively. The Department seeks to appoint a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in the Department on a permanent contract. At Senior Lecturer level, the incumbent should be a high calibre scholar, practitioner and innovative thinker who will take on a strong leadership role and continue to build the Department's profile and standing nationally and internationally. The incumbent will teach at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, supervise, produce research at a high level, and contribute to academic citizenship. At Lecturer level, the incumbent should be a promising academic, who is willing to grow and emerge into a strong academic citizen and should be able to teach at undergraduate level and supervise students at Honours level.
Responsibilities:
Teach theoretical and practical courses across the year groups from undergraduate to postgraduate;
Course coordination, curriculum development and associated administration;
Publish in peer-reviewed, accredited publications;
Recruit and supervise postgraduate students at Honours, Masters or PhD level;
Build and maintain national and international external partners, including within industry at SL level.
A relevant Masters or Doctoral degree in Strategic Communication or a commensurate field;
A promising or strong research track record;
Teaching experience commensurate with the level of the post;
A solid track record of postgraduate supervision. For the L level, this can be at the level of Honours, while at SL level, this can be at the level of both Honours and Masters.
The ability to cross-teach Strategic Communication, Marketing, Corporate Communication as well as Public Relations and Communication Management.

Recommendations: Experience in teaching both theory and applied Strategic Communication courses.
