As the country's longest-standing meal kit provider, we deliver thousands of bags filled with nutritious, locally sourced ingredients and easy-to-follow recipes to families across New Zealand every week. We're expanding our digital team to support our next phase of growth and are looking for a talented Senior Developer to join us!About the Role:As a Senior Developer, you'll play a crucial role in shaping the future of My Food Bag by leveraging the latest technologies to build innovative solutions from the ground up. You'll have the opportunity to create amazing code without the burden of legacy systems, making a significant impact on our platform. You'll also contribute to architecture designs, influence technology strategy, and mentor junior developers. Our teams work across a large range of business areas and supporting platforms so variety is the spice of this role!What You'll Do:Understand client requirements and translate them into application features.Collaborate with the team to set specifications for new applications.Design creative prototypes according to specifications.Write high-quality source code to complete applications within deadlines.Perform unit and integration testing where appropriate.Conduct functional and non-functional testing.Troubleshoot and debug applications.Evaluate existing applications to reprogram, update, and add new features.Develop technical documents and handbooks to represent application design and code accurately.Provide recommendations to team leaders on challenges and opportunities.Assist in guiding team development efforts towards successful project delivery.Maintain high standards of software quality by establishing good practices and habits.Identify and encourage areas for growth and improvement within the team.Participate in peer-reviews of solution designs and related code.Package and support deployment of releases.Adhere to high-quality development principles while delivering solutions on-time and on-budget.Research and evaluate various software products.Act as feature and/or technical lead for discrete digital product increments.Mentor junior team members in professional software engineering approaches.Support the My Food Bag digital technology stack with 2nd and 3rd level technical support as part of an out-of-hours on-call roster.Technical Things We Use:Front-End: React Native, React and TypescriptDatabases: SQL, NoSQL, Entity FrameworkContent and Marketing Platforms: ContentfulCloud Hosting: Azure (focus on Serverless)Agile Development: Scrum, Lean principlesHeadless composable commerceWhat We're Looking For:5+ years of proven experience as an application developer in leading companies.Experience in designing and building scalable customer-facing applications.Proficiency in a range of front and back-end languages (e.g., C#, Ruby, Node.JS, React, React Native, Java).Ability to work across all areas of My Food Bag's technical stack.In-depth knowledge of programming for diverse operating systems and platforms using development tools.Excellent understanding of software design and programming principles.Strong leadership skills with experience mentoring and guiding junior developers.Open-minded, progressive thinkers who can think outside the box.Solutions-focused mindset with a passion for delivering great outcomes for our foodie-loving customers.Team players who collaborate constructively within an Agile framework and can run agile teams on occasion.Why Join Us?Be part of an energetic team that's unafraid to use their skills in diverse ways to enhance our customer experience and product.
