Te aheinga - The opportunity
We are seeking an experienced accountant to partner with and provide proactive financial and commercial advice to the Council's Project Management Office (PMO). NPDC has over $1B of capital projects to deliver over the next decade, and the PMO plays a crucial role in delivering this significant investment efficiently and effectively for our community. Your expertise will support the planning and successful delivery of both capital and operational projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Support Project Management Office by providing proactive financial and commercial advice working as a key partner to Project Managers and the Project team
Assess financial structuring of projects, budget management, cost control and ensure accurate project reporting and forecasting
Monitor Significant Activity budgets, identify efficiencies and deliver reliable financial and performance reporting
Conduct financial analysis to assess the value of Capital investments
Work with stakeholders to continually improve asset management processes, including the capitalisation of infrastructural assets
Play a key role in the development of Long-Term Plans (LTP's), Annual plans, and financial forecasts
Support the development and maintenance of Council's financial systems
Assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reports and annual statutory accounts, completion of reconciliations
Assist with development of the Councils accounting policies, practices, systems and documentation
Actively ensure that legislative requirements and Council policies and procedures are fulfilled, particularly in relation to all key relevant legislation
Minimum Requirements:
Seven plus years of management accounting experience, ideally within infrastructure or capital expenditure projects of a commercial or government organisation
A professional accounting certification or tertiary qualification with a strong understanding of NZ IFRS and PBE IPSAS relating to infrastructure and capex accounting principles
Excellent problem solving, analytical skills, and critical thinking abilities. Confidence maintaining multiple systems
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the capacity to convey financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders
A collaborative approach and the ability to engage with diverse teams and stakeholders
Familiarity with TechnologyOne Finance System (Ci or Ci Anywhere) is an advantage
