Plant & Machinery Operators (Construction) We're hiring an experienced machine operator to join our growing team.Pryde Contracting is on the lookout for a highly capable Excavator Operator with a broad skill set and 8+ years of experience. This role is based in Wairoa, with projects and job sites based across the region. With multiple weather events over the last few years, including Cyclone Gabrielle, there is a mammoth recovery ahead. This work spans across multiple sectors and areas, so variety is a given.The right candidate will have: A qualification in the construction industryAt least eight years' experience operating an excavatorExperience leading sites and teamsSound knowledge of H&S legislation and how to implement it in the fieldGood relationships and networks in the industryExcellent communication, relationship building and interpersonal skillsA willingness to continually grow and develop their skillsLeadership qualities; the ability to guide and direct team members while treating them with respectYour W,T,R LicenceA good work ethic, a positive attitude and a focus on Health & SafetyThe ability to work both independently and in a teamExtra points for: Proven experience working on a range of different terrainClass 2 – Class 5 licensesPrior experience as a foreman/forewoman or supervisor in civil constructionStrong leadership and team management skillsAbout the roleThe Senior Operator role is responsible for leading projects/sites on the ground and directing other members of the team to complete jobs efficiently. At times there will be Site Supervision/Foreman responsibilities, with team members being responsible to you on site for a project's duration.The position includes both team and solo work, using the candidate's prior experience and skills to determine the best techniques and course of action for the job at hand.The role includes guiding and mentoring junior members, and at times, directing other team members, such as truck drivers and labourers, on a project site.If the candidate is interested, there are opportunities for involvement in project management, quoting and tendering, quality assurance and staff management.The Senior Operator ensures that daily operations are carried out in accordance with Pryde Contracting's Health & Safety policies.The position works closely with the Operations Manager to ensure efficiency and cohesiveness across the business.We want to help our employees achieve their career goals and are committed to training and development opportunities.
