Senior Engagement Advisor Are you experienced at developing stakeholder engagement strategies Can you convey technical ideas in plain English through various channels Worked with diverse audiences and have awareness of Asian cultures languages and ethnicities Keen to make a difference to the New Zealand housing sector About the role Housing Tenancy Services within the Ministry of Business Innovation Employment is seeking an experienced and capable person in Auckland to develop and implement stakeholder engagement plans for the New Zealand rental housing market This role requires a person that can manage relationships with industry and community groups write for diverse audiences and represent the Ministry at events within the housing and tenancy sector Specifically we need a Senior Advisor that will be based in our Manukau Auckland office and will prepare and implement our Asian engagement strategies A core component of this role is engagement with the Chinese Indian and Korean business communities fluency in an Asian language i e Cantonese and Mandarin is highly desirable however not essential Were looking for a motivated individual to help shape the direction of a growing team and contribute to the important topic of renting for New Zealanders You should be passionate about engagement and have good strategic thinking to be able to prepare effective strategies action plans and resultsdriven data Skills and experience required excellent understanding of stakeholder engagement practices experience with the International Association for Public Participation IAP2 methods and principles is desired but not essential excellent working understanding of a wide range of information and education channels tools and resources digital and traditional excellent influencing interpersonal and communication skills written and oral including the ability to write about legislation policy or technical guidance in plain English several years communications and project management experience required proven experience in developing and implementing strategies an understanding of how to set goals objectives action plans and use data to show results existing relationships with the New Zealand Chinese Korean and Indian communities and business groups desired some knowledge of Government processes desired a willingness to work in a flexible and dynamic environment including outside of normal business hours where needed for events and travel for work must have legal right to live and work in NZ About MBIE MBIEs purpose is to grow the New Zealand economy to provide a better standard of living for all New Zealanders We do this by working with others to help businesses to be more competitive improving job opportunities and by ensuring quality housing is more affordable The Information and Education team this role sits in is part of the Housing Tenancy Services Branch The teams mission is to Shape information and education initiatives that motivate behavioural change where needed in the rental property market improving how the housing and tenancy system functions Collaborate with the wider housing and tenancy system including internal and external partners to contribute to shared goals and support sector compliance Deliver timely and accurate information to landlords tenants and unit titles owners through communication channels to educate audiences about their rights and responsibilities How to apply Click on the APPLY button below in order to be directed to our online careers website You may view a position description at this site as well as complete the online application and upload a CV and cover letter For tracking and evaluation purposes all applications must be submitted via our online process Email Matt Guy at matt guy mbie govt nz if you have any further questions Applications close at 5pm on Friday 7 February 2020 LIMBIE
