This role requires a person that can manage relationships with industry and community groups, write for diverse audiences, and represent the Ministry at events within the housing and tenancy sector.Specifically, we need a Senior Advisor that will be based in our Manukau, Auckland office and will prepare and implement our Asian engagement strategies. A core component of this role is engagement with the Chinese, Indian and Korean business communities; fluency in an Asian language, i.e. Cantonese and Mandarin, is highly desirable, however not essential.We're looking for a motivated individual to help shape the direction of a growing team and contribute to the important topic of renting for New Zealanders. You should be passionate about engagement and have good strategic thinking to be able to prepare effective strategies, action plans, and results-driven data.Skills and experience required:excellent understanding of stakeholder engagement practices; experience with the International Association for Public Participation (IAP2) methods and principles is desired, but not essentialexcellent working understanding of a wide range of information and education channels, tools and resources (digital and traditional)excellent influencing, interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) – including the ability to write about legislation, policy or technical guidance in plain Englishseveral years communications and project management experience requiredproven experience in developing and implementing strategies; an understanding of how to set goals, objectives, action plans, and use data to show resultsexisting relationships with the New Zealand Chinese, Korean, and Indian communities and business groups desiredsome knowledge of Government processes desireda willingness to work in a flexible and dynamic environment, including outside of normal business hours where needed for events and travel for workmust have legal right to live and work in NZAbout MBIE:MBIE's purpose is to grow the New Zealand economy to provide a better standard of living for all New Zealanders.
