Mo tenei turanga | About this role This is a front-line role working directly with schools, whanau and tamariki in the Greater Wellington Region, based in Lower Hutt or Masterton. You will be responsible for building relationships with boards, school leadership, Kahui Ako, whanau, community groups, internal Ministry staff, and other government agencies. It is through these relationships that you will be able to provide advice and guidance to schools on a range of issues and you will also be able to use your research skills to do this. You will be supported by a multi-disciplinary integrated team, with other education advisors, curriculum leads, and learning support specialist staff. The role will support schools and kura in the Wairarapa and Tararua. The key priorities for this role are: Working with individual kura/schools and Communities of Learning | Kahui Ako to significantly improve student attendance, engagement, and achievement. Using detailed analysis of schools/kura performance and student achievement to influence change and maximise education outcomes for students. Brokering support for schools/kura where potential is identified - this may include building capability and strengthening governance and management, regulatory compliance, curriculum, monitoring and assessment, student and whanau, family, and community engagement. Knowledge of NCEA changes and the Curriculum Refresh Te Mataiaho would be an advantage. Salary range: $84,425 - $102,271 per annum + 3% kiwi saver. Mohou ake | About you We are looking for someone who builds relationships easily, goes the extra mile, is willing to learn, and is interested in helping raise student attendance in the Greater Wellington Region. You will enjoy problem solving, researching information, working as part of a team, and dealing with proactive topics such as raising achievement and attendance, as well as helping schools solve reactive and unforeseen problems that may arise. You will also offer: A tertiary qualification or other relevant discipline. Strong analytical skills and the ability to work with student achievement data to determine needs and priorities. An ability to develop strong working relationships both within and outside the Ministry. Understanding of education systems in New Zealand and relevant education legislation. An understanding of te reo Maori ona tikanga. Skills and experience in making a direct contribution to student achievement in both English and Maori-medium educational settings. An understanding of factors which influence learner achievement and participation. An understanding of National Education and Learner Priorities (NELP), Ka Hikitia, the Action Plan for Pacific Education, and Success for All and how these documents impact on this work. The ability to understand and apply the principles of Te Tirirti o Waitangi and tangatawhenuatanga. Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to work effectively across a diverse range of settings. A current full driver's licence is essential. Our frontline groups will collectively provide leadership and integrated services to the sector and others. This includes services, such as learning support and education advice and regulation functions for schools and early learning services.
