Now is an exciting time to join Watercare; we're planning to spend $18.5 billion over the next 20 years to ensure we can continue to support our growing city in a climate-resilient way.The Senior Development Planner will liaise with internal teams and engage with Auckland Council, CCOs, and developers on Private Plan Changes related to large-scale development and urban intensification. This role involves coordinating Watercare's inputs from early engagement through to the plan change being made operative, ensuring adherence with statutory timeframes.The Senior Development Planner will progress Watercare's involvement in these activities with support from the Major Developments Team and wider Watercare teams, including primarily the Water and Wastewater Planning Teams and the Strategic Planning Team. The successful applicant will also:Ensure that timing, funding, and responsibilities are clearly communicated and that appropriate Unitary Plan provisions are proposed.Work with internal teams and external stakeholders to articulate and document dependencies such as new or upgraded infrastructure through the Plan Change process.What you'll bring to the role:A tertiary qualification in planning and/or resource management.5+ years of experience in a technical RMA Planning role.Knowledge of the legal and regulatory framework for commercial and residential development (RMA, Building Act, Watercare Bylaw).Understanding of Council's growth strategies for the Auckland Region.Holding or eligible for NZPI membership.Complex problem solving skills.We offer a competitive salary and staff benefits package including:Hybrid flexible workingTraining and development opportunitiesLife and income protection insurance plansGenerous parental leave policyEmployee discounts at a range of large retailersModern offices in the heart of Newmarket with easy access to public transportDiscounted Wilson parkingOn-site free gym.Me pehea te tono mai | How to ApplyCome and join our team!
