This is a unique and varied opportunity for the right person with compatible culture, skills, and experience to support the development of our sub-orbital spaceplane.
Based on your skills, experience, and aptitude, the responsibilities you could be gifted with would be in full lifecycle engineering structural design for manufacture of composite airframe, control surfaces, interface mounts and enclosures.
You will also be involved in the assembly, integration and testing of these elements.Fundamental responsibilities of this role:Take ownership of and lead airframe composites structural design and manufacturing projectsFoster positive, collaborative coordination across multi-functional teamsDesign, analyse and test composites components and structuresPerform design reviews with a strong focus on manufacturing principlesLead the procurement, manufacture, assembly and integration for your projectsProduce compliance reports detailing the qualification of hardwareEstablish new, and improve existing processes or capabilitiesYou will have:An appropriate qualification in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics or similarAt least 5 years' professional experience with composite systems, in fields such as aircraft, spacecraft, automotive or marineProven experience in design for manufactureProven ability to appropriately consider and trade off cost, schedule, performance and riskProficiency in 3D computer aided design (preferably Solidworks)Hands-on mechanical manufacturing, assembly, integration and test experienceAwareness and experience with quality control principlesExperience working with and directing sub-contractors/ suppliersGood communication, organisational and reporting skillsA positive, driven attitude with a team collaborative approachAdditional desired proven skills and experience in:Integrated project team management (Project Engineering)Mentorship and training of junior engineersCarbon composites manufactureComposite structural computational analysis (FEA or similar)For security reasons, background checks will be undertaken prior to any employment offers being made to an applicant.
