School Caretaker St Mary's College Wellington We are seeking a proactive and reliable School Caretaker to join our team at St Mary's College.

This is a part-time position, 25 hours per week to be worked 5 hours per day.
The position is for 52 weeks per year.
Key Responsibilities: Perform daily and weekly routine checks and maintenance on school facilities, including classrooms, restrooms, hallways, administration blocks and outdoor areas.
Ensure that all areas of the school are well-maintained.
Conduct regular safety inspections of the premises, reporting any hazards or issues to the Principal.
Work in liaison with the Principal to identify solutions to ongoing issues.
Maintain outdoor areas, including mowing, weeding, and seasonal landscaping.
Carry out minor repairs and maintenance tasks, including fixing furniture, plumbing, and electrical issues.
Act as the key point of contact for contractors working on maintenance issues.
Locking/unlocking and alarming/unalarming premises when necessary.
Work closely with the Principal and, if required, the Board of Proprietors to resolve issues around maintenance, upgrades and facility development.
Experience/Attributes: Previous experience in a trade, caretaking or maintenance role.
Basic knowledge and ability to carry out minor building maintenance and repair techniques.
High level of awareness of health and safety and the ability to identify hazards and mitigate risk, and the ability to operate maintenance equipment safely.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
A proactive approach to problem-solving and attention to detail with a solution-focused approach and the ability to prioritise.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical ability to perform manual tasks, including lifting and operating equipment.
Full valid driving licence.
The successful applicant will be required to consent to a police vet check prior to starting in the position and three yearly thereafter.

The successful applicant will be employed under the terms and conditions of the School Caretakers, Cleaners, Canteen and Ground Staff Collective Agreement .
The college is a Catholic school in central Wellington.
