Te Mahi/About the Position:
We require an enthusiastic and confident Registered Nurse with a current Annual Practicing Certificate, excellent clinical skills and a passion for working with youth to join our team.
You would be part of a team working across decile 1, 2, 3 and 4 secondary schools. You will work closely with the school's Pastoral Care Team and be supported by a RN Team Leader. The service is delivered over a 47-week year.
The School-Based Health Service for Otautahi supports rangatahi with their health and wellbeing as a whole. The role of the School-Based Health service will strengthen connections to community services such as Public Health Nursing, Medical Practices, Partnership Community Workers and many other Community Agencies.
Our service is guided by Te Tiriti O Waitangi to promote equity in healthcare and wellbeing support within our education facilities. The service aims to reduce inequities and provide accessible healthcare and wellbeing support to all rangatahi.
We promote a space of diversity and acceptance and recognise that each individual has the right to express themselves as they see fit.
He momo/About you:
You will need to be a team player, yet able to work unsupervised, with a desire to work in a supportive, multidisciplinary environment.
You will be providing nursing support and participating in the HEADSS assessment programme within a school. Experience in youth health is essential and clinical skills relating to mental health, sexual health and substance use is desirable.
An excellent understanding of community health resources for youth would be an advantage.
