Regulatory Services Manager Excellent opportunity to lead a skilled and capable team 5 weeks annual leave per year Permanent full-time position We are seeking an experienced people manager to lead our skilled team in the effective and efficient delivery of the Regulatory functions of the Manawatu District Council, focused on strong customer service in conjunction with meeting legislative requirements. The organisation With around 200 staff, the Manawatu District Council is big enough to provide career growth and progression opportunities, but small enough that you can get to know everyone in the team. The role The Regulatory Services Manger is responsible for ensuring regulatory services are delivered by the Manawatu District Council in accordance with the legislation, council policy and levels of service. These services include, Building Control, Resource Consent Planning, Animal Control, Environmental Health, Alcohol Licensing, Compliance and Enforcement, and Regulatory Administration Support. Managing the contracted development and introduction of a Quality Management System is part of this role. The Manager will use their knowledge of the regulatory and local environment to identify and report potential strategic risk, particularly around emerging market demand changes. To that end the Regulatory Services Manager has a key role in proactively liaising with developers and businesses to ensure consenting and compliance matters are professionally managed and resolved. You will be a valued member of the Community Leadership Team based in Feilding, working together to collaboratively ensure the Community Team meets Council's strategic direction. Skills and experience You'll bring your demonstrated relationship management skills, effective communication skills, and proven ability to manage competing demands to the position along with: Proven regulatory, quality management, compliance or enforcement experience Proactive leadership skills and ability to negotiate and influence Experience and knowledge of relevant legislation applicable to Local Government regulation and NZ building construction.
