At the heart of the electricity sector, we have a unique and critical role helping to enable and accelerate a net-zero carbon future.Transpower calculates annual transmission charges each year in accordance with the Transmission Pricing Methodology (TPM), which is a schedule of the Electricity Industry Participation Code and is governed by the Electricity Authority. Because we are a natural monopoly, our investments in grid assets and allowable revenue are regulated by the Commerce Commission.About the teamThe Grid Pricing team sits within Strategy, Regulation & Governance and is responsible for delivering the grid pricing function that determines how Transpower's costs as owner and operator of the National Grid (~$1B pa) are recovered from our customers. This includes implementing the Electricity Authority's Transmission Pricing Methodology (TPM), to recover Transpower's regulated costs as the grid owner, and pricing under investment contracts to recover the costs of new connection assets from the customer requiring them. Our Regulatory Advisor is a key person in supporting the delivery of pricing-related stakeholder engagement and processes.About the roleAs Regulatory Advisor you will play a key role in providing support on regulatory and pricing compliance matters, both within the Grid Pricing team and throughout Transpower. You will be responsible for supporting the Senior Regulatory Advisor and Head of Grid Pricing to deliver and coordinate grid pricing consultation and stakeholder engagement processes, developing supporting procedures and policy work. This involves:Working across the business with contributing technical experts to deliver accessible, high-quality consultation materials.Developing high quality processes and procedures with appropriate governance in place.Identifying opportunities to improve efficiency of compliance with the TPM and reduce complexity for our customers, including the development of any supporting collateral.Working closely with the Senior Regulatory Advisor & Regulatory Affairs team on other electricity industry matters, including in relation to electricity network pricing regulations and regulatory disclosures.What You Will BringExperience: 2 - 5 years of regulatory experience self-managing and delivering projects, along with a solid understanding of regulatory frameworks.Communication Skills: Proven ability to deliver clear and simple written and verbal communications on technically complex subjects, ensuring accessibility for both internal and external stakeholders.Self-Management: A self-starter attitude with the capability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines effectively.Pragmatism: Skill interpreting complex and technical details with a pragmatic approach, while adhering to legally binding regulations and understanding what 'good practice' looks like.Consultation and Engagement: Experience in creating high-quality, transparent, and principled consultation and engagement materials and processes, delivered on time and according to plan.Industry Knowledge: Background in regulatory or policy-making roles related to New Zealand's electricity industry and/or network pricing.Why work for TranspowerAn equal opportunity employer, we value the diversity of thought and knowledge sharing that comes from our people from over 28 nationalities.
