Stepping Stone Trust is a Charitable Trust that offers a range of community-based support services for adults, youth and families who live in Canterbury and Dunedin. Te Ara Pakeke (Adult Residential Services) supports people who experience mental distress and need assistance in their recovery journey. We provide a homely and supportive living environment with professional care and monitoring of the general health and wellbeing of our tangata, by ensuring their core personal and mental health needs are met. Our focus is on holistic wellbeing and promoting the citizenship of our tangata.
We are looking for a Registered Nurse to join our Adult Residential Services team in a permanent part-time role, working 24 hours per week, Monday to Friday between 8am and 5pm. This is a fast-paced, dynamic position suited for someone with a strong work ethic and a compassionate approach, dedicated to supporting tangata in living full and meaningful lives.
About The role | Mo Te Tunga
In this role you will:
Provide clinical expertise, assessment and triage of needs to meet the requirements of tangata.
Engage with tangata to assess their health and wellbeing needs and provide plans to meet their care needs. This includes oversight of medication management and short-term care plans.
Support and provide direction to unregistered staff and oversee medication management including training of other staff members to administer and short-term plans.
Be able to strongly advocate for tangata in a clinical setting.
Develop beneficial professional relationships with GPs and other health professionals.
You will:
Have a relevant Nursing qualification and be registered with Te Kaunihera Tapuhi o Aotearoa| Nursing Council of New Zealand.
Have relevant experience in the mental health sector.
A willingness to commit to and support the bicultural journey that Stepping Stone Trust is on as we live out our partnership under Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles.
Have a compassionate and caring nature with good communication skills.
Be able to work in dynamic and fast paced environments and possess the ability to assess a situation and decide a course of action quickly.
Have strong organisational skills for managing your workload alongside good verbal and written communication skills.
Have confidence in working alongside tangata and possess an engaging communication style to relate and connect with tangata and their whanau.
Have a strong (intermediate) level of computer literacy.
Possess knowledge of / experience in implementing medication systems (such as Medico Alpaca, Medimap and Onechart).
Have a full, clean driver's license is essential.
