The Resource Recovery team of the Transport & Waste Management unit is responsible for developing and implementing the management and maintenance of the City's solid waste strategy. Although the Regional Waste Projects Facilitator falls within this team, overall direction will be coming from the Canterbury Waste Joint Committee that represents ten Councils across Canterbury.

In this role you will contribute to the development and implementation of regional action plans and programmes as guided by the Canterbury Waste Joint Committee. You will collaborate with subject matter experts and industry professionals to workshop ideas and progress the initiatives that will lead to improved waste management practices and waste reduction.
Key areas of accountability include but are not limited to:
Developing and maintaining effective partnerships across the Canterbury Territorial Authorities
Investigating initiatives directed by the committee, applying project methodology and putting together project teams
Ensuring the project team and key stakeholders are kept informed across relevant project activities
Ensuring meeting agendas, meeting minutes, key decisions and other project records are documented and filed appropriately
Drafting and submitting funding applications, allocating funding to initiatives and following up with funding recipients
You will be a trusted point of contact between the Canterbury Territorial Authorities and all other stakeholders, ensuring open and up-to-date communication. You will have well-developed relationship building and people management skills, while also being able to demonstrate a proven history of working unsupervised and prioritising your tasks. Your ability to show initiative in resolving problems and having a strategic focus when developing new solutions will ensure your success. Technical knowledge on the waste management sector and relevant legislation (Waste Minimisation Act, Litter Act and the Resource Management Act) will assist you in succeeding in this role.

Hours of work - 37.5 - 40 hours per week
Position - Permanent, full time
Location - This position is primarily based at Te Hononga, Christchurch City Council Civic Offices - 53 Hereford Street
Salary - The salary band for this position goes from $78,464 to $87,182 per annum based on a 40 hour week. Starting salaries will be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role, and relativities both, within the immediate team and in the broader organisation for the same or similar roles.
