Rates Officer Reference: 6671711 Looking to level up your career and make a real difference? We're on the hunt for someone awesome to join our Corporate Services team as a Rates Officer! If you're passionate about our community and helping others, this position is a great starting point within Council. As a Rates Officer, you'll handle everything from processing and reconciling financial transactions, maintaining the rates information database and a wide range of activities including: Ensuring rates are set in accordance with Council Resolution and rates notices issued appropriately. Ensuring timely and accurate collection of rates revenue and undertaking related debt management. Managing ratepayer inquiries. Conducting periodic reconciliations of rating information. Utilizing Excel for data analysis and reporting. Maintaining up-to-date property information, ownership details and processing rates factor adjustments. Interpreting and applying relevant legislation to rating matters. Processing Department of Internal Affairs Rates Rebate Scheme applications and rates remissions according to policy. Providing backup for reception and other Corporate Services team members as needed. About You: This role is varied and busy so you will be someone who exudes efficiency and thrives when under pressure, a great communicator who has excellent written and verbal skills and impressive customer service skills. In this role you will also be analysing data, so having an eye for detail, a mindset to get things right, and a great working knowledge of Excel is paramount. An understanding of local government is beneficial, but a positive attitude and strong administrative skills are what truly matter.
