The salary range for this position is $58,816 to $66,578.
Permanent, full-time role based in Te Kuiti or Pureora.

The Department of Conservation Te Papa Atawhai (DOC) serves to protect and restore nature spaces and species across Aotearoa.

He angitutanga About the role: You'll play a vital role in projects dedicated to the care and maintenance of species, eco-system protection, as well as front and backcountry busy tourist sites in the Maniapoto.
The position will be focussed on: Track clearing and maintenance in the back and front country.
Maintaining huts, bridges, and other structures.
Biodiversity initiatives: trapping, monitoring, predator and weed control.
Building and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders and internal staff.
Participating in team safety briefings and taking responsibility for your safety and the safety of your teammates every day.
While this position is mostly field-based, you will also be required to complete office-based tasks assisting the Supervisor and Senior Ranger with planning and organising of projects.
You will be required to work in backcountry locations, often in remote and rugged terrain, occasionally staying overnight.

If you have some of the following, we are keen to hear from you: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Off track navigation and GPS skills.
Full New Zealand Drivers Licence (ability to drive a manual).
High level of physical fitness.
Ability to work in backcountry locations, often in remote and rugged terrain, occasionally staying away for up to a week.
Hands-on practical skillset, ideally with carpentry, construction or building experience.
Planning and organisational skills.
Emotional intelligence.
Ensure facilities, tracks, and signage are safe and accessible.
Tech savvy skills with the ability to learn new systems.
Ability to work alone and within a team; task prioritisation, initiative.
Strong health and safety focus.
Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work with a range of stakeholders.
Ability to work in isolated environments.
Hands-on practical skillset.
Desirable: Experience and/or qualifications with chainsaws, scrub bars, 4WDS, LUVs, growsafe.
A current First Aid certificate.
