Korero mo te turanga - About the role Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Pukenga - Lecturer in International Relations to join the Political Science & International Relations programme on a permanent, full-time basis. The anticipated starting date is 24 February 2025 (negotiable). Key responsibilities: Contribute to teaching courses at all levels in International Relations, as appropriate and agreed to with the Tumuaki - Head of School. Advance a sustained and disciplinary-relevant research programme. Successfully supervise post-graduate students to completion. Contribute to Haututanga/leadership, administrative roles, and outreach to the wider community. Prepare and deliver graduate and undergraduate courses in International Relations. Commence other teaching or administrative duties. O pumanawa - About you This is an ideal opportunity for an entry-level academic who wishes to pursue a career as a researcher and educator. Key requirements: Research interest or experience in Japan/Northeast Asia and the United States. A developing record of scholarly research and publication and/or creative work, and a research agenda. Demonstrated evidence of some successful teaching in a relevant field at tertiary level. A completed PhD in a relevant field. Knowledge of and familiarity with Maori concepts, values, ideas and practices, and an interest in growing matauranga Maori for teaching and research programmes.
