About the Role
You will play a key role in a multi-disciplinary team environment that prides itself on providing a high-quality level of mental health assessment and care. You will contribute valuably to the team through conducting comprehensive psychological assessments, formulating, and implementing evidence-informed psychological treatment to tangata whaiora over the age of 65 years with a wide range of mental health problems.
Day to day you will be working alongside supportive multi-disciplinary colleagues, including Clinical Psychologists who have established expertise within this specialist area. You will work closely with tangata whaiora primarily within the community, and also in an inpatient mental health setting.
Ongoing professional development, opportunities for research, and/or assisting tertiary level training are all additional possible activities supported within this setting.
About the Team
This service is for tangata whaiora over the age of 65 years and comprises of an in-patient unit and a community team servicing a wide geographical area.
The team consists of in-patient staff, community mental health nurses, psychiatrists, social workers, psychologists, occupational therapists and a community support worker.
About you
Competency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
Experience in upholding Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Matauranga Maori and Kaupapa Maori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
You will need to be a registered Psychologist with the New Zealand Psychologists Board and hold a current Annual Practicing Certificate.
You will possess experience and skill in Older Persons Psychology or have a keen interest to learn and develop skills within this specialist area.
You will be someone who enjoys working as part of a wider team with strong interpersonal and communication skills, whilst delivering high quality psychological treatment in an autonomous role.
Neuropsychological interest and experience is an advantage, but not a necessity for this position.
A current full NZ driver's license
