Head Medical are seeking Post Foundation doctors with an interest in Psychiatry for vacancies located in Whangarei, New Zealand.
You will be part of a multidisciplinary team working in partnership with other health, social and community sectors with access to a number of teaching and educational opportunities.
Range of rotations including acute psychiatry, liaison psychiatry and Maori mental health Relaxed lifestyle in a subtropical climate just 2 hours from Auckland Gateway to the beautiful Bay of Islands, world class diving and sailing, and other relaxing lifestyle options Salary NZD $94,6618 – NZD $110,857 (depending on experience) The Role The Hospital is a 246 bed Regional hospital providing secondary care services to a population of approximately 194,000.
Due to the geography of the region, the hospital also provides services to a large rural region.
The psychiatry programme offers rotations in acute inpatient psychiatry, community adult psychiatry, Maori mental health, rural psychiatry, child and youth mental health, liaison psychiatry and psychiatry for older adults.
There is an active clinical training programme with didactic sessions, interactive based teaching, journal club and video conferencing.
The Location Whangarei is called the "Meeting place of the Pacific" because of its many international yachting visitors and the Northland region boasts some of the most scenic and exciting coastal areas of NZ in a subtropical climate.
Its rich in Maori and European history, some of the oldest traces of Maori settlement can be found here and newcomers will experience a real connection with the culture and way of life.
With its high sunshine hours and fantastic natural environment, including white sandy beaches and native forests, it has the reputation of being one of the country's premier tourist and lifestyle destinations, and is a popular holiday choice for both Kiwis and international visitors.
Whangarei has a busy domestic airport, as well as easy access transport links to Auckland, New Zealand's largest city which is only a two-hour drive away.
