Dunedin Hospital has almost 400 beds and provides care for a population of approximately 350,000 spread over the lower South Island of New Zealand. Dunedin Hospital's Anaesthesia Department welcomes applications for the position of Anaesthesia Provisional fellowship for a full time, fixed term one year capacity starting at the beginning of REGISTRAR change over until late January 2025. As an Anaesthesia Fellow, you'll be expected to provide afterhours shift work during the week and will participate on a 1:5 weekend roster. In the second six month of the year additional SMO on call hours will be introduced. The roster includes protected training lists as well as non-clinical time for CPD plus Registrar and Anaesthetic Technicians trainee teaching. Opportunities exist for protected training time to included rostered time with other specialty services relevant to the candidate's area of interest ie Cardiac Cath Lab. Mou ake | About youWe are a tertiary level hospital with a full range of elective and acute surgical specialities and can offer you a varied and challenging array of anaesthesia work. Ideally, we are looking for someone with the following skills and experience to complement our team: An excellent general anaesthesia skill set. A team player with exceptional interpersonal skills who builds effective relationships both within and external to their team Is solution focussed and can demonstrate excellent decision making and priority setting in a clinical environment Enthusiasm for teaching and passing on their knowledge to junior members of staff To be eligible to apply for this role, you must meet ANZCA Provisional fellowship training requirements including prospective approval for this role. You must also be eligibility for general or provisional general registration with the medical council of New Zealand. Due to the nature of this role, you will need to be a NZ or Australian Citizen or resident or have an appropriate visa to live and work in NZ. We will consider applicants from overseas training schemes where the candidate has completed all their exams and advanced training runs and will be in their final year of training.
