The Whangarei Art Museum has an exciting opportunity for an experienced content developer to take inspiration from our exhibitions and bring them to life for school learners and the general public.The Programmes Curator will create, develop, and deliver educational and public programmes, including tours, talks, and outreach activities, that primarily relate to the Whangarei Art Museum's exhibitions. This role is crucial in engaging diverse audiences and enhancing the educational value of the Whangarei Art Museum's offerings.Key ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with the Director to ensure programmes are engaging and complementary.Propose, develop, and implement educational programmes for school groups, families, and adults that align with the Whangarei Art Museum's exhibitions.Develop resources and materials to support educational programmes.Liaise with educators and educational institutions to ensure programmes meet curriculum needs and learning objectives.Work with community groups to deliver mutually beneficial outreach activities, enhancing the visitor experience.Increase awareness and attract new audiences to the Whangarei Art Museum.Promote an understanding of contemporary art and create opportunities for critical debate.Embed the principles and practices of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and include te reo Maori in programme delivery.Attract and provide tours, visits, and other programmes for public groups and organisations.Collaborate with the rest of the Whangarei Art Museum team to ensure all events are promoted and communicated effectively to stakeholders and the community.Maintain accurate records and statistics for all visiting school groups and public programmes for reporting purposes.Develop and deliver front-of-house activities related to current exhibitions and topical events or holidays.General DutiesAssist with visitor host duties, welcoming visitors and stakeholders as required.Participate in the design, promotion, installation, de-installation, openings, and events associated with exhibitions.Support promotional initiatives of the Whangarei Art Museum.Other duties as assigned by the Director to ensure the smooth operation of the Whangarei Art Museum.RequirementsA relevant tertiary qualification, or at least two years of relevant work experience.Knowledge and experience in a gallery/museum environment or similar sectors.Experience working with diverse groups of people and children in an event management context.Experience liaising and working alongside artists.Excellent at building and maintaining positive community relationships.Interest in and knowledge of contemporary New Zealand art.Confident in developing and delivering programmes to all ages.Strong communicator with some knowledge of Te Reo Maori. #J-18808-Ljbffr
