New Zealand Steel, a wholly owned subsidiary of BlueScope, manufactures and markets a range of flat rolled steel products for the building, construction, manufacturing and agricultural sectors. You may know us for our flagship COLORSTEEL brand.
An opportunity to join the Quality Assurance Team in a Process Laboratory Analyst role has become available, in this role you will be working to ensure the quality of our product.
What you will be doing
Your day-to-day duties will include the collection, preparation and testing of steel, iron, and slag for quality control purposes.
Training of our internal laboratory operations practices and computing systems will be provided to the successful candidate; this role offers opportunities for growth and development within New Zealand Steel.
This is a 6-month fixed term position from December 2024 - May 2025 within our small quality assurance team. The normal working hours for this position is an average of 42 hours per week (12-hour shifts 4/4 rotating shifts); however, to ensure that operational requirements are met, you may be required to work additional hours when needed.
What you will bring to the role
An understanding of laboratory quality procedures (TQM) and experience of the testing equipment (OES, XRF, etc.), testing techniques as well as test result validation is preferable, but not essential.
You will be safety conscious, have excellent communication skills and great attention to detail, enjoy working autonomously, and have a good understanding of scientific and mathematical information.
You will need to demonstrate a commitment to teamwork along with a willingness to positively contribute to a diverse and inclusive work environment and an uncompromising attitude towards health and safety.
